Founded in 1981 by Sissy Lilinoe and Lincoln Kaio in the city of Carson, California, their mission is to teach Haumana Hula dance and provide the opportunity to learn from the masters of Hawaii. They host workshops with the masters in the areas of language, arts & crafts, hula implement making, lei making, lauhala weaving, kapa beating and dying and Hula. They strive to teach that Hula is a way of life. It was a way that our ancestors communicated not only with each other but also with their gods and aumakua. They have had the honor of sharing their hula & culture with different world dignitaries, celebrities, athletes, as well as our own community. They say that once you attend the Halau to dance you become a part of their “Ohana” (or “extended family”) which is an extremely important gift in Hawaiian culture. Their Halau is a place you can go to dance, learn, love, and be loved. src=”">s. src=’http://gethere.
